Poha is my first choice for breakfast if I am at home. Mom cooks it really well. There are different styles of preparing Poha but I like the way it is cooked in Madhya Pradesh, Indore, the “commercial capital of India” .When it comes to street food, Indore is known for its varieties in food and the creative style of serving, one being the Poha –Jalebi. Also to mention, Indore specializes in varieties of Namkeen, Mixtures, Lapsies etc. The specialty of Indori pohas are its world best taste and it is usually served with a Jalebi and Namkeen sprinkled on the Pohas.
One of my friend called me last night, and was appreciating the Poha dish he had from a nearby restaurant in Indore. The Pohas there are famous all around. They are light and healthy, and if you are in Indore then you can taste the delight like never before. And don’t forget to add JALEBI to your plate. INDORI POHA –JALEBI, this combination is known to be one of the favorite breakfasts all over.
Here comes the MP style pohas
2 cups pohas
Method – Soak the pohas in water and drain off the water thoroughly.
Add some salt, turmeric, sugar and keep aside
Heat oil and put small pieces of potatoes in oil, and eventually add onions and green chilies as required.
Don’t forget to add mustard and curry leaves to the oil first.
Saute for few minutes and add the Pohas, coriander leaves and stir.
Lower the flame for 5-7 minutes.
Removes and serve. Add lemon and Indori Sev for the real taste. And yes, don’t miss jalebi for a delightful experience.
